CT100 Automated Metallic TDR Cable Tester
Next-generation Time-Domain Reflectometer Performance
The new CT100 and CT100HF High-Resolution Automated Metallic TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometer) Cable Testers meet or exceed all TDR performance specifications of the popular Tektronix® 1502C Metallic TDR Cable Tester, while providing next-generation improvements in TDR analysis, data storage, connectivity, and ergonomics. Time-Domain Reflectometry is a form of closed-circuit radar that can accurately locate and characterize cable faults such as shorts, opens, crimps, presence of water within the cable, and damage to cable insulation, shielding, or conductors.
CT100 Series TDRs use step-rise signals and have as low as 60 ps system risetimes (CT100HF, 20-80%). Horizontal cursor resolution is 0.76 ps, or approximately 75 µm (0.003 in) in typical coaxial cable (VoP=0.66), regardless of cable length. Sequential sampling rates of up to 250 kHz, with TDR waveform acquisition at more than 500 frames/second, make rapid automated cable scans, sophisticated digital filtering, and transient fault capture easy.
The CT100 Series' unique combination of fast system risetime, high-resolution timebase, and 16-bit sampling makes subtle changes in cable impedance easy to identify and correct before your systems' integrity or performance suffer. With useful test frequencies extending to more than 8.3 GHz (CT100HF), these instruments are valuable for troubleshooting a wide range of modern high-frequency analog/RF and digital communications systems. Other innovative features are described below.
Key features
- AutoFit™ button fits any cable to the screen automatically.
- Make impedance and distance measurements between two independent cursors.
- Save TDR traces that you can later zoom in/out on, and compare or subtract from live or previously saved traces.
- Display a live TDR trace along with multiple saved traces on the screen at once.
- Configuration library saves device configurations for an unlimited number of testing situations, making repeat measurements as easy as a press of a button.
- Download your TDR data to a PC and review it later with the included CT Viewer™ software.
Designed to be easy to use, as well as accurate
